Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast?

Late one night in 1989, a few weeks before I started jr. high, I stayed up late and watched a movie called Heathers. It was a revelation. I was a non-Mormon girl living in the suburbs of Utah and I had a “weird” name. This movie didn’t make me want to kill people and make it look like a suicide or blow up my school, but it taught me that I didn’t have to try to be like the popular people and that it was ok to be weird. I joke that the Mormons made me a punk, but this movie had a bit of a hand in it.

I can’t believe it took me so long to think about going as Veronica Sawyer for Halloween! Last year paul and I went and Mulder and Scully, which we pulled off quite well. This year with only a stop at Ross Dress For Less, some blue tights and some props, we pulled off Veronica and JD costumes!

We only needed a few props: Corn Nuts (BQ and plain!), Red Vines (from the Snappy Snack Shack scene), a croquet mallet (made from a stick, two toilet paper rolls, and some blue paper), fake guns, and some make up (that I had to watch youtube video to know how to put on) it was a hit! I cut and dyed Paul’s hair to make it the most Christian Slater-ish I could.

Then we went a saw an Operation Ivy cover band with my sister and that was super rad!

I still need to finish up my last past from our trip. I’ve just been super busy with work and stuff.
