Still in Brighton…

Last night was our reading in Brighton at the Cowley Club. Everyone was really nice and our reading seemed to go off well. Afterwards we went to a mexican restaurant…yup. a mexican reastaurant in Brighton, England. I ordered a vegan burritos and got served a plate with a bunch of beans, non spiced rice and some sort of gravy type stuff with beans and peas in it with salsa. it was in a tortilla sort of  folded over on itself and not tucked in. I was really wanting a mission style burrito wrapped in foil that you can eat out of you hand but this thing… i had to eat it with a fork.

Kids here are really adept at eating with both fork and knife. I should learn that skill. I sort of gave up using knive when i gave up eating meat 17 years ago so the thought hadn’t really crossed my mind.

Earlier in the day yesterday I met Emma at her work. She works at a language place that teaches adults English. She had me come into her class for an hour demonstrating my American accent. I thought it was sort of amusing. One of the students from Libya asked me what my favorite city in America was then asked if I liked Las Vegas… um, not so much.

After that Emma and I walked all around town and down by the sea and up some hills. I think I walked a lot and now I’m tired. So today I think I’m just going to chill inside and catching up on my internetting and my button work. maybe I’ll make everyone here some food tonight. Maybe more enchaladas?

Here are some photos of the May Day (on the Monday bank holiday)

Ok, that’s it for now. I have more photos but I have things I need to get to. I have some photos of a silly royal pavilion, me learning how to play cricket, and some photos of all the cider I have been drinking. There is really good cider here!  I wish we had good cider at home.
